The Watford Riverwell team hosted two Community Open Days to showcase plans for the next phase of new homes on the land to the north of Thomas Sawyer Way. The Community Open Days were held at the Watford Riverwell Marketing Suite on Thomas Sawyer Way on Tuesday 19th and Wednesday 20th March.
Residents were invited to view the emerging proposals for 180 new homes, including 72 affordable homes available through subsidised market rent, social rent and shared ownership. The affordable homes, comprising 40% of the total in this phase, will in the first instance be available to qualifying local people, such as key workers. The proposals also include landscaped communal gardens and a new community centre with a multi-purpose hall, breakout spaces and function rooms.
The emerging masterplan includes proposals for a new pedestrianised square with a hotel, shops, restaurant, new apartments, family homes, community centre and a two-form entry primary school.
The open days attracted interest from local residents and the Riverwell team were on hand to answer queries and discuss the proposals with visitors.
